The area is now famous due to the increasing numbers of birds calling the West River an important habitat. A pair of bald eagles have set up a territory and successfully reared five young during the last two years. Ospreys and wading birds use the river. Birds, insects and flowers live in this park. And work continues to establish native plants and further improve the habitat here. I had the pleasure of spending an hour exploring what has been done in August after dropping off a donation of a native cutleaf cone flower that I hope will be able to establish itself among the other native plants that were to be installed. |
Little by little the habitat is being improved and revitalized. So many are to thank for bringing wildlife back to this area and as work continues it is hoped people and animals can enjoy this area.
